Has anyone used the version 4 E Rx and version 5 to compare?
Several things have changed, not all for the better. I was wondering if we just have not figured things out yet.

confused1. We used to be able to have Rx requests entered for the MD's review and approval, we are not able to generate any kind of pending list.

2. We are not able to see if the MD sent the Rx, and to which pharmacy it was sent.

3. MD is no longer able to write Rx for needles, lancets, etc. In other words, if its not a drug, he cannot E rx it.
4. The meds that are being approved by the pharmacy are being listed as a duplicate on the med list for the patient.[/color]
Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated smile

I don't know much about that; never used v4 with it. I hope I am not hijacking your thread.

But, have you or anyone else experienced the following:

I sent a medication for Zithromax suspension 200 mg/5mL, etc. and

the pharmacist received Zithromax suspension without the strength. It also showed up in the patient's chart that way. Needless to say, we got a call from the pharmacy.

I agree it would be great if it would show Transmitted to Walgreen's.

When I transmit electronically, it shows up in my note under plan that I transmitted to phamacy and in the prescription writing area it saves the pharmacy as the default pharmacy for that patient unless I choose to change it.

Same here, but it doesn't say Transmitted to Walmart Pharmacy. It also defaults to the same pharmacy in ePrescribe.

Bert,

That definitely happened in the beta version: not yet on the "live" run.
BTW, pharmacists still call for the obvious, so I am not sure we will avoid getting those calls no matter what technology does.

It's a double-edged sword. They save our [censored], and they drive us crazy. In the end, they are doing what is best for them legally.

We had a top pharmacist over for lunch once. It was eye opening and helpful to get to know them. One brings her kids here now.

It's harder to yell (talk loudly) to someone you know. smile

You are right, it is indeed a double-edged sword.
Its nice of you to meet with them. I am sure it encourages them to take the extra step, and like you said, breaking bread with someone will make for a much more positive relationship for both parties.

E Rx on V4 was much smoother than V5 although it had more steps to complete a prescription.
The search was much more useful and it listed when drugs are availabe in generic form.

Now, I can't order anything that is not a drug, or even approve non-drug requests from pharmacies (strips, lancets, etc.)

I have declined to accept any prescription refills faxed from pharmacies for the past year, but now, i don't have choice about certain requests that can not be processed on the new E Rx version.

Again, I don't know. But, Jon is supposed to be (from what I hear) making sweeping changes with ePrescribe mainly with refills coming directly to your inbox. You may want to email him directly with your thoughts and ask him why the changes and if he sees moving back in that direction.

There may be issues beyond his control such as New Crop's decisions. Some of the things you list sound incredible. smile
