I have been looking at UPDOX as the method of importing into AC is a little cumbersome when you get 50-60 items a day in scanned files and you have to look at them, open chart, import, name, etc.
UPDOX looks like it has become a mature product - $35.00 per month really is not that much, but what do people think. Can users who are using them talk about it ? When I talked today they did say they were planning on being at ACUC if other people are interested in talking with them.

I will be quite interested to hear what people say. I kind of gave up on Updox when I realized that the $35 only gets you 500 faxed PAGES per month. I process that many in a week and I don't think I have that much more paper than anyone else. So, I guess the cost could be significantly higher at which point it no longer seems to make sense for my office. I would love to be convinced otherwise.

I already have inbound faxes that go directly to computer - I just want a good method to import and annotate notes.

I tried Updox last year, before the EMR link to AC was fully functional. I found it very slow, with a steep learning curve. I think there is a new version, however, so I'm also interested in how people are using it.
I think Updox will have trouble beating the features and price of PaperPort combined with a network fax, over the long term. I receive 500 faxes about every 10 days, so my cost for Updox would be at least $55/month.

I guess my question/problem is that there is still no easy way to import from paperport without opening each chart. Updox appears to let you click on item - view and then hit import - bring up pt. list, type what it is and done.....

The reality of the pricing is what deterred me from buying the program. Updox seemed pretty neat and functional. It saves several keystrokes for each document, but I would expect to spend over $100 a month to have it. This is not readily apparent from their website, but becomes clear when you talk to their reps (though even then, I got two widely differing estimates from two different people). I am not sure that the time savings justifies the cost (for me).

I have stated elsewhere that UpDox is being very helpful for us; it pulls together a bunch of services that we would otherwise have to piece together, and, being new at the whole game, that is a big load off my back. Plus their team is the most responsive support I have ever encountered, bar none.

A multifunction fax maschine, like Brother 5440, at a cost of $239.00 will do whatever updox might do for me. Ours is still going strong without any problems after using for over a year.

I have no problem getting the faxes into the computer - the difficulty is getting them easily imported - UPDOX has a good interface allowing easy import/categories for AC, as well as a pt. portal allowing secure e-mail to pt.

I also have a Brother MFC printer and in general it has been great. One word of caution, however. Paperport 12 is not reliably functional in a network environment. At least in my office. I had to put the "received fax file" back on my XP machine running PP9.

We've been using UPDOX for several months. We had them port our fax number so that we get all our faxes via UPDOX and saved the cost of the line from the phone company. Only drawback is ALL faxes incoming and outgoing have to go through the computer. Sometimes we have to scan a piece of paper or print to updox printer interface to fax, but really thats not hard at all.

I liked the feel of Updox in the somewhat limited trial we had (there were some network issues that limited us in the trial) but I was concerned about the cost. We got varying estimates from the Updox people, and it looked like it might be well over $100 a month for our office (we send and receive about 35 pages a day, or over 1000 a month. Anyone care to share what Updox really costs them?

We are signed up for 8 users and 3000 faxes. $85/month, and happy to pay it.
