Haven't had time to upgrade to 5.028.
Has anyone upgraded yet and have the time to share your experience?
Thanks Vicki

I have used the upgrade since last Wednesday. The run time error appears to be corrected and that was my biggest concern.

Now it's time top push for the pm (old story).

What are run time errors? I'm sorry I've not had a lot of time for the board recently and have a limited computer background.

Everything running good updated on Sunday once you update the database you will need to update all the workstations or they will no longer connect. The system overall seems more responsive than before.

Vicki,

I could explain it, but this is actually a good site to read up on them along with how to use error codes.

v5.0.26 had a bug that was causing a runtime error #364 for some users specifically whey they tried to order labs, e.g. Jack above. This became known as 364 and kept a lot of people from either going to that version or upgrading to v5 at all.

For AC to fix these errors, they first have to reproduce it, which they obviously did. Then they had to find a fix. When it is widespread, it is generally do to something wrong with the program that has to be fixed on AC's end. But, an error can happen with a program due a combination of the program and something on that particular computer such as device drivers, etc.

Upgraded to 5.0.28 over the weekend. So far so good. (Mix of XP, Vista, Win 7 32bit and Win 7 64bit machines.) But then we never had the runtime error with 5.0.26. Must be luck, clean living, and good genes.

I too upgraded over the weekend. I had to disconnect the databases on the main computer in order for it to take. Other than that, it worked fine.

I had a couple computers that were running 5.0.24 and it could read the databases. The databases must be updated with the tuner prior to using 5.0.28, on some upgrades, the old version will no longer be able to read the databases, but it worked until I got around to finishing the upgrades.

All computers XP on a peer to peer system

I stupidly upgraded the entire office during our mid-day break and I couldn't be happier! Everything works beautifully!

We were using V5.0.26 on 4 desktops running XP Pro, two tablets running Vista Business, one tablet running Windows 7 Pro, and another tablet running XP. The server runs XP 2003. The desktops are wired to the server (LAN) and the tablets are connected wirelessly.

I downloaded the installer and the database tuner to the server, which took a few minutes.

I spent a good 10 minutes trying and retrying to run the installer and just couldn't get it to work, even though AC was closed on all the computers. Most of that time was spend double checking that AC was truly shut down on all our computers.

I restarted the server. That took a few minutes.

I ran the installer.
I ran the tuner.

I had the staff run the installer (previously downloaded to a shared public folder on the server).

I upgraded all the tablets.

The whole process from beginning to end, took about an hour and a half, including restarting all the computers after installing.

Was there a problem? In fact, there was one: I was going so fast I hit the yes radio button instead of the no for installing SBS on one of the tablets. That completely buggered up the tablet because I'd never installed any of the necessary service packs.

I restarted in safe mode and went back to the last working configuration - then ran the install program again.

The afternoon went off without a hitch! But afterward I did think that it was pretty dumb of me to do that in the middle of the day. (Clearly I'm not a real IT person!)

I started at 9:30 and finished by 11:30. And everything works.

<going off to knock on wood for the next 15 minutes>
