Hey Folks,
Guess whose sort of half back from the dead? So check this out, we are still using and in love with Bert's FAP (file assist pro) for our document managment and had to update to a newer version that forced us to update out of 3.7. So I get my hands on the latest and greatest (???) 5.0.26 which now it seems some of you are not sure whether this product or still Beta but the first part went as planned, very smooth on our main P2P "server" strong as an Ox, Quad Core Xeon Dell Workstation tower (A server of a Peer if ever there was one) with 4 gigs of RAM for whatever the software can throw at it. All Computers are XP Pro and were pretty darn stable and quiet for all this time running old access 3.7 AC and FAP all day and night.
So later in the night I try to install 5.0 on two of our wireless laptops which again were doing fine in our small office for years running lots of versions of 3.0 since Feb 2006. I was thinking just for future use Nancy may want to try and travel with a laptop while on vacation when we can not always be sure of internet access and still be able to take care of things and patients, that sort of thing. So I chose option 3 at the bottom for the laptops that the data is not on this machine but it may be used for SYNC in the future so that way it would install a useable version of SQL just in case, for that day down the road...
Again, the first part of the install went smooth, quiet, much like the main tower seemed to go so no indication that something was afoot, when after all the boxes and accepting of things and setting for the actually 5.0 install, we got a pop-up window talking about a "1321 Error" and not having Sufficent Permission to access or modify (I do believe it was modify forgot to write it down at 3 am in the morning) Meds mdb (no qualifying whether it meant its own copy on the laptop verses the one on the main tower so that was frustrating and only makes this harder to think thru, so I'm assuming the one on the laptop itself, but goodness knows this could be a bad case of what happens when one Assumes...) and I click on OK, and then that box went away and another one pops up to tell me that the install was incomplete and I'm SOL so to speak... Not good.
So obviously I am reaching out and asking if anyone out there has experienced a similar kind of thing, what might have been the cause and what ideas might you folks have as a solution? I was considering totally un-installing old AC on the one of the laptops and then attempting to install 5.0 without the SQL install for the moment all on its own so it has the laptop all to itself. We once had an old SQL based EMR that was not not happy installing itself on my old Gateway laptop because it seems that MS Outlook (2002?) used some of SQL and so Charware and SQL were upset with sharing SQL with Outlook and visa versa or what have you. Chartware wanted SQL all to its very self.... And so it failed in some way to finish its install as well. But that was a very long time ago and I don't claim to remember very well what happened back then.
Anyway, any suggestions as to what this is and how to attack it and correct it so we can have our full office and system back would be much apperciated. Right now we have Nancy using Log Me In to access the main tower remotely so at least she can continue to work during the day while we await a better answer and solution... Thanks much...
Paul
