We are just setting up AC, and so everything is a surprise for us. Maybe this is one of those "Of COURSE, everyone knows that!!" things, but we are finding it a big help in the initial patient entry stage (which right now is everybody).
Once the patient demographics are correctly entered, it is possible to go to write Scripts, click the e-prescribe tab at the top left, and select "manage with new crop screens." If demographics are good, a link to "Rx History-Rx hub" is shown. That allows review of all medications given for that patient filed with his/her insurance, and this can then be reviewed and imported. It is not perfect, but it is saving my staff a whole lot of time in entering the "initial state" for a patient. It is also useful to assure meds are not being given by another provider that the patient is not reporting.

Very cool, I've never tried that. Would definitely be a timesaver.

Yes, I'm using V 5. The demographics do have to all be entered correctly. Sometimes I have to go back in a second time for the link to show. It can really be an eye-opener to see ALL the medicines that have been prescribed, by you and by others.

Once you are in the rx history for the patient how are you importing the med list into the patients chart?

If the Rx History-Rx Hub link is active, then click on that. It shows right under the patient's name in the line with the checkbox "Show Pharmacy Benefit Manager Detail." I must admit, it does not always show at first, and the patient's insurance has to be correct.. click on the COMPOSE Rx tab at the top to refresh You are given a date range to view. Simply select which ones you wish to import, and click the "Import to Pt record" pink tab on top of the list of medications.
If someone can tell me how to add a screen shot to this post, I will do that.
