In talking with an AC programmer he is trying to figure out ways to make it better - I suggested entering practice name and multiple providers name and allow searching by either and other things we all use..... he says he will work on it.

That would be awesome! We should be able to search by specialty in the Rolodex!!!
Right now we have to export to excel, run a filter on the columns and sort the Specialty alphabetically.

Is there a way to add to the Rolladex from the letter screen? It seems if I go to write a letter, and find the recipient is not in the rolladex pull down, I have to back out until I can get to the Practice Rolladex menu item.

We need to also be able to search by specialty.

We need to be able to "Print" a rolodex entry. Including the phone numbers.

Steven- or anyone else who knows- I know nothing about writing code, so I may be off-base. We are talking about a contact manager here. What people are asking for is very basic. Why does the AC programmer have to re-invent the wheel? Isn't there such a program in the public sphere that can just be incorporated into AC?

Maybe, but the Rolodex is already there. I'd expect them to be able to stick the Print function in w/o too much trouble. Or at least have the letter writer automatically add the telephone and fax numbers.

Is anyone else having problems with new entries actually staying in the rolodex? It is not uncommon that I will have to enter a contact 2 or 3 times before it seems to be saved in the rolodex...of course there is always the chance I am messing up the first several tries...but AC pops up a box stating the contact has been saved...but no where to be found.

That was a major problem, but I haven't seen it since going to 5.024.

@DocB we have this problem too!! I didn't think of asking anybody else about it on the forum. I haven't really been able to re-produce the problem either. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesnt. And when it happens, we always have to enter about 2-3 times total for it to finally stick.
@Wayne, I am happy this seems to be fixed in V5. I am waiting for the unknown error with orders to be fixed before we update to V5 since we rely on orders a lot.

the problem comes up when you are looking at a contact and then add a new contact if you shut down the rolodex and restart it, there is no problem entering new contacts. but every time you look at a contact it wont save new ones

I had this problem up until version 5.026. Seems to be updating new contacts immediately now since I upgraded.

Yes, there is a way to add to the Rolodex from the letter screen. Isn't there such a program in the public sphere that can just be incorporated into AC This isn't as easy as it seems. Almost like Open Source. Most programmers want to write all of their own code. Can be difficult to support when not your own. Also, it could be written in a different language. I think Vinny used to write some code, but for the most part it isn't a great idea. Jon once said, there is no code written even by his own programmers that he doesn't read himself. Is anyone else having problems with new entries actually staying in the rolodex? I figured this out two years ago. Never thought anyone has an issue with it. Never saw a question on here about it. Of course, now it probably won't work. Plus, one way is obvious, so I would be afraid to even write it down.

I actually haven't been using my Rolodex much. I'm always using the one that comes with the Brother fax as I'm sending scripts and referrals continually over fax with that.

Funny you brought that up. We/I have too many places with contacts. First, there is the classic Outlook, then we have ALL of our contacts on SharePoint (which can be synced to Outlook). Then there is the Rolodex. My referral and billing person entered everything into the Rolodex.

@ephraim Thanks! Your solution works for me. I was having issues with the Rolodex even with V5.0.28 but as long as I do not look at another contact first and then go to "Add Contact" it works every time. I hope they fix this soon for everyone else who does not know this.
