On several of the order pages we are forced to put who the order will be sent to before we can chose an order.

Usually I formulate the order and then chose who to send it to.
It would be nice if the box would just default to the last person we sent an order to.

Wishful thinking, not absolutely necessary.

Once I choose who to send orders to it seems to save it for the next time.....Wait-- Under Admin Options - Define order sets - you can add any orders you want and set who to send them to.....try that (probably have to turn off and back on AC after doing that to make it work on each machine).

I have decided to stop sending orders. I'm going to just save them and they hopefully will show up in the view orders section for my tickler file. I was sending orders to labdoctor but that is a useless step now. I send referral to my MA. In earlier version I used, I had my labdoctor mailbox but I don't really need that now with the view orders section. I think.

Main AC screen - you can go to VIEW and then ORDERS and will let you bring up orders - I could not get it to bring up just one pt. orders (don't know if I did it right).

Hey! I'd never noticed the view orders screen. Now, what do I do with it? And how? oh, yeah, you can't just view one patients orders, but it looks like you can reconcile orders. Does it work with labs ordered from ,say, Quest or Labcorp?

Perhaps it only will work with reconciling labs once digitally connected with Quest or Labcorp. When signing off on labs or xrays that are imported into the patient's chart there is a "reconcile with orders" option. That does not work right now. The only way to reconcile orders is to go to the View, orders. Click on the order then go to the bottom left box and click on "reconcile with....." and a list of the imported items in the patients chart pops up. You then double click on the imported item that matches the order and it will change the status of the order to complete and you can send it off to be deleted by someone somewhere so it doesn't clutter the area any more. This is not a great way to manage the orders, assuring that what you have ordered has been done...and not lost to follow up but I think it is the only way to do it right now. I used to print duplicate orders and follow up that way and this is a substitute but the work flow part of it isn't ideal by any means. It would be alot better to reconcile the order when you sign off on the results but that function isn't functioning yet. If that worked the only things left in view orders would be the things that are lost or that the patient never did.

You can view one patients orders in the past encounters section inside their chart. You have to click on orders.

It seems like the lab orders section is for labs that you run in-house. There needs to be a way to define lab tests so that you can send the Quest/Labcorp/other commercial lab tests as orders and then have it reconciled with the lab HL7 download. Which I think is what Lawrence said above.
