I have not yet had a chance to play with Verison 5, but I am excited about the improvements briefly touched upon in the demo for the search function.

Has anyone had a chance to play with this in detail? Has anyone been using it enough to answer some questions as to what this improved search function is capable of doing?

1) Can you run a search on people who are on certain medications but have NOT had certain labs done? (ex. on Nystatin but no liver enzymes checked in more than 3 months, or on compounded HRT but no hormones checked in more than 6 months)

2) Can you run a search on a particular lab value for a person and see all the levels ever collected electronically for that patient no matter what lab was used? Can you find the dates these levels were taken? In essence can you look up trends in a "flow sheet" manner for certain lab values?

3) To search for lab values, can we add our own to the database so that they come up in a search? Or are the lab values pulled automatically from the electronic labs that come in?

4) Can we add our own medications to the medications database so that this comes up in a search? In other words, can we search for patients on a particular medication that we formulated ourselves? (ex. compounded hormone replacement)

I would appreciate any comments or thoughts from anyone!

Thanks,

S.K.
