Hello,
Are there any features present in Amazing Charts that support and expidite the process of scanning insurance cards into the system? We currently have a Fujitsu scanner that is not TWAIN compatible. Does anyone else have any insight on how they easily manage to scan and work with insurance cards in Amazing Charts?
Any help would be appreciated - thank you!

For us speeding the intake (front desk) process is crucial. We bought is card dupplex scanner which is twain compatible and works great with AC: ScanShell® 3000DN - Duplex scanner. It goes about $ 359.

That's exactly what we have. No problems in 7 months with the ScanShell Duplex. Fast, quick. Just go to the patient in AC, click on import from scanner (or CTRL-S), and off it goes. It's great, quick, excellent quality scan, and SIMPLE. We scan driver's license and insurance cards.

Does scanning the cards populate the demographics when it is scanned in or does the info live in the imported item tab?
We have been told that if we want to populate the demographics when the cards are scanned, we all would have to be out of the system and then restart AC on the server and then info would be populated.
Can you give us some insight on using the card scanner?

Do any of the ID card scanners populate the demographic section?

That would be impossible without the card scanners using an SDK from Jon or something to that effect to access the demographic fields. The demographics is part of the code of the program.
I mean it can be done, but none of the card scanners are just randomly going to try to populate AC's database. Unless you are asking is there a card scanner that Jon has worked with?
The other issue is that computers tend to want consistent data. If each insurance card always put the insured's name here and the ID# there, etc.....
