I was cleaning up some CDRW disks and one had a backup copy of AC. This was v1.26. In looking at it it was apparently THE ORIGINAL TRIAL that I used in Sept and Oct 2002. I had it on a laptop at that time and used it on about a dozen patients.

Back in those days, I took the entire AC folder and copied it to the disk for a backup. It was 46 Megs!

Sooo...

I tried opening it from the disk (it asked me to locate the database, I directed it back to the disk.) It told me the database was locked and what to to (Well, yeah, it's on a disk!)

I then copied the folder to the desktop (this is on a Win 7 pro machine with an AMD quad core.) I clicked and it still said locked (but I had set the database to the disk, I changed it to the desktop.)

It opened. I opened files. It was verrrry familiar. Well I know there have been incremental changes, but AC is fundamentally the same from back then. There weren't import items back then, which contributes to it's small size. IT TOLD ME THERE WAS AN UPDATE AVAILABLE (I didn't try that)

I figured out the password and discovered that it was not registered. I purchased in either end Oct or Nov 2002.

I subsequently opened AC 5.024 which opened on top of AC 1.26, it asked me if I wanted to migrate the data, (no), and I was able to run the two side by side. I had migrated the patients, they were all in the current version.

It's possible Wendell that you have toooo much time on your hands! Have you been out to a movie lately? :-)

I wish I had more free time, but it brought back old memories. I'm just amazed that it worked just by drag and drop.
