I had AC for about 10 days. We have 3 computers with AC, main one XP profesional, other two laptops with Vista. Everytime the 3rd computer logs on to AC whole database stops responding, and we need to reboot the main computer to have AC working again. It works fine with one computer and one laptop which is connected wirelessly. Initially we thought it is wireless network problem, tried connecting with wires (network cable) problem still the same. Contacted support, they were not able to help us yet. Does anybody came across similar problem? Please help. We really like AC features so far. Thanks

I have had similar problems when my entire clinic was wireless peer-to-peer network. After hardwiring the clinic I did not encounter any problems. Now we have 10 computers running mostly without a hitch. Perhaps, someone else on the board can address the compatibility of Vista with XP Pro.

Divak,
Need some more information. First, though, if you were able to connect with Ethernet cables, why not keep your network that way or was it just kind of disorganized for a trial? Personally, I am a wired guy, probaly always will be for speed and security, but that's just I. Sometimes, wireless is the only way to go.
As far as Vista compatibility, I don't know why it would be a problem as I played with Visa here, and everything talked to each other. But, still, and I know you already have Vista, but XP Pro is a solid OS that networks well. It's also probably best not to mix and match, but it still shouldn't be an issue.
But, need more info:
What kind of wireless network cards? Are they all set for the same speed? And what about the settings on all of them as far as half duplex vs full, etc. Again, should't matter, but it helps. Are they all set for DHCP? Is the router giving them IP addresses via DHCP or do you have static IP addresses? Key: How much RAM do you have on the main computer? How much space on your C: drive of the main computer? How large in Mbs is your AmazingCharts.mdb? I'm guessing rather small like less than 2 Mbs if just starting. Also, you may not need to reboot. You may be able to close all ACs and just fix the database with the AmazingCharts utility (the grey wrench in the folder). You should run this weekly anyway. Please post your ipconfig /all of each computer here or to my PM or email. Could be helpful. Networking is always fun. Who is using the "main" computer? What is it? What apps are running on it? For troubleshooting: Have you tried downloading the program again just to see if all three computers can run on that database. I know it has no info, so I would just try it after hours or on the weekend with some fake patients and see what happens. Make sure it isn't a bad database, although doubtful. Although, it makes the most sense to use the workstation as the main computer, because it is stationary, have you tried moving the main folder to one of the laptops. They may have more memory or if newer, just work better for the "server." Are the workgroup names all the same in every computer? Is it always the same laptop that crashes the database? Are your drivers up to date on your network cards? Do you have SP2 on XP? And what do you mean exactly by "freezing." Any error messages?
Sorry, but it will be easier to help with more information.

Oh, and I forgot to ask. Which of the seven versions of Vista are you using? And, remember, there is a Business and a Business-N. Why Microsoft thinks we need seven versions is beyond me, but that's a topic for another day.

Thanks Bert for your detailed support. I am amazed by the all the support you guys give to each other. I really feel like I am joining a "Amazing Charts User family."
Myself and our IT guy was finally able to figure out the problem. It is the Router. I had Linksys WRT GL wireless router, which worked fine for the wireless internet part, but poorly with in-office network. We changed it to Linksys RV042 wired router, everything worked great in all three computers and also was very fast. I definitely need one computer connected wireless to tke the laptop to patient room and document there. I am going to buy an wireless Access Point, (thinking of Netgear WG602, has good ratings on CNET) connecting to the wired router. That way to keep the wired and wireless connection separate. I agree setting up wireless right, so that it woks efficiently can be complicated, but once it is up and going should be OK. I did not particularly have any specific problem with Vista, I have Home Premium, may need to upgrade to Business or Ultimate at some point. Thanks again. Divak

Divak,
Anytime. I am glad you got things up and running. If you go with any of the Vistas and you can save significant money with an upgrade version, let me know; and I can show you how to do a clean install with the upgrade and end up with a full version.
Cheers!
