How are those using the v5 beta using the new orders window? I like the layout and it's exactly what I wanted, but it would be nice to be able to change the entire group of nursing, labs, imaging, referrals to pending or completed. Otherwise staff needs to select each item for each lab ordered... But I'm asking because I'm pretty sure I'm missing something. Of course, if I'm not the Other--Free Text orders will work just as well how I wish, just without the nifty check boxes. Did I say thank you yet for the Christmas present? Thank you AC

Ditto on the need for an ability to select multiple items to link to results and to mark completed or results pending. It would also be nice if a link could be created and status changed at the time the results are imported. (And Ditto on the "Thanks".)

I am confused as to what to do with it all. Since I do everything myself....

The orders seems to be slightly more cumbersome in v5 in some areas. When I used the orders, I never sent them to someone else in the office. I just ordered a CT scan and sent the order to the hospital. Now I HAVE to select someone to send it to even if I don't send it to someone in the office. Then I print/fax it to the hospital.
And when I save these orders without sending them, where does it save them? For tracking purposes I'm not sure how to utilize the orders.

Scalpel, If you use any order tab except "other" (ie. labs, imaging, etc...) it will save to plan area like V4 used to. The problem is if you use "other" tab to free text or right-click template that you may have developed V4 it will not save to plan! This may be a glitch or overlooked! I had to retype all my order sets in lab and imaging tabs and now I click and modify there (although more cumbersome) so that it tracks to plan. I also don't like how if you print orders, the order section closes and you have to click again to enter and save order, cannot just click print then save! Hopefully these issues are fixed asap. I have spoken to tech support about a couple of them. Jack

Thanks Jack. I figured out I can have it default to send to someone (i'm not quite sure who but it doesn't matter b/c we'll save it without sending it everytime). I really don't need it sent to anyone the way my office works because I don't put the orders in the computer. I just tell my nurse/MA and she enters the orders and sends them to the hospital by fax.
I just need to figure out a workflow so that if I order a CT Abdomen and don't have the results sent to me within a week of the day it is to be done, I will get a notification to look for that study. Right now we do it the old fashion way and have a radiology/lab logbook. Gotta be a more high tech way of doing that.

would love to split inhouse and outside labs. would like to have it linked to CPT codes so they are tentatively billed when ordered (or better still, when completed!), but dependent on insurance.

It does NOT save free text to the plan - that HAS to be a bug - it is annoying.
Also, if I click on CBC LIPID CMP - even though they are all on the same order - it puts them in the pending order screen as THREE separate.
I'm wondering if you could set up "lab bundles" in the administrator system.
Or I could make my own lab in the administrator that said "diabetic female - annual" etc... and just let my staff know what labs go w/ each.
