I would love and my liability company would also love if we could incorporate a tracking system for all labs, consultation, etc and have the capability of knowing which results have not been recieved.

Malford, in v5 there is a new task tracking feature that allows tasks assigned to staff, or staff groups, then put into a pending category. It is possible that when you order a lab you could send a task, upon giving the pt their paperwork you could change the tasks status to pending, then upon receiving the lab results the task can be changed to completed.
I'm not sure about all this in practice though. I have an open question towards the boards opinion of this as a solution. What do you think, and have you seen this yet?

I spoke to Barry at tech support yesterday and learned a number of things about tracking. Once you send them on, your MA can then put them in a pending or completed category.
They can shoot you back the results of a rapid strep and change the color of the email.
They can also pull up pending tasks and merge them with incoming labs so you have no outstanding labs.
You can go back and look at orders from everyone to see what is pending and what is just sent.
This may be a change in workflow for some offices but probably not a big change for mine.
The big problem is lack of updating of the messages.

I am not using this advanced tracking yet! Too time consuming, I make sure pt's follow-up and if they cancel they are rescheduled. That makes more sense to me and the orders are in the plan, so I make sure they are done. I think the advanced tracking is a good idea, but who actually has staff/time to incorporate that? Jack

I think this tracking system is valuable to me. Sometimes my staff is unable to recognize that a certain result goes with a certain order and it makes most sense in my practice to sign this off when I sign off the imported item. I wish there was a connection between the sign off screen and the "orders" tracking area. This are so efficient in my office at this point that I'm the one who can most easily reconcile results with orders and I'd like to do this myself anyway. Link this area to the imported are of the patients chart. Maybe I'm missing something.

(several little smiley faces if I could) I bet we all will want to use the tracking for some of the more long term items, 6 month unilateral mammo etc. ? Will it be convenient for those events?
