When is the release date for Version 5? Can we have our Christmas gift early?

Hello,
Right now we have an Alpha release of the new version, and the beta version should be out in the next week, or two.

Here's the scoop, Beta is going to start in 1 week. As much as we would love to give it to all of you as a Christmas gift, it looks like you'll be celebrating the New Year with version 5. But you didn't hear that from me.

Thanks, but....

Isn't Christmas still 2.5 weeks and New Years 3.5 weeks away?

If I get it before Christmas, I can spend the holiday playing with it on my test/laptop machine. I live such an exciting life.

The Beta release will be out in 1 week. It will be in Beta for a few weeks to ensure its stability (nothing worse than getting something new and it not work right). The General release is what I was referring to when I stated that it would be out in January. I apologize about not stating that in the above post.

That timing will work for me. Please put up a post so we don't have to keep checking the beta site.

I'd rather see a best-release than a quick release. Just imagine the board flooded with complaints and expressions of outrage regarding bugs if the software is released too soon per the demands of its users.

Some of that, however, will depend on how the beta goes.

Classically Jon's betas are very stable. Since they delayed it for at least 4 months, I would suspect many of the little bugs are worked out.

V4 was in beta for some time before it went final. The big issue, I think was the installer, which remained an issue, but that is the nature of change of platform.

Let's see how V5 goes. We really need some of those fixes.

Where can I download the beta? Since I'm not yet using AC, I'd love too play with the beta version as part of my decision to purchase.

This is the link but version 4 is still listed. They have not put V5 to beta just yet. http://www.amazingcharts.com/beta
