I have scanned and sized my signature in AC. It is under my user account under admin. I cannot see sig when I print a 8x11 script, or letter etc... I know this has been talked about and I restarted both my computer and server. What next??? Very frustrating! Also, has the photograph feature been fixed in latest version, what do you use for camera? Webcam? Thanks!

A webcam can easily take the photographs for you. I think it is the simple way to go about that. As for the signature, make sure it is saved in a folder on the server that is shared over the network (such as the AC folder). AC should then recognize it. I haven't had any trouble with that, but we mainly use the Star Thermal Printers, so our scripts won't print the signature.

Jack, I also print out using the Star, so am forever without the signature, which basically frustrates me to no end. But, before I knew that, I made my signature. As you know, it HAS to fit in the little box or it won't work properly. Many editors were mentioned such as Paint (Microsofts still pathetic idea of an image editor -- a bit better in Win7). But, you can download a 30-day trial version of Adobe Photo Shop Extended https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop&promoid=EBYEU&loc=enwhich will allow you to do whatever you want with a signature. Especially good at making a transparent signature, which I use with other word processors such as PDFs. I actually purposefully overlap the signature on lines to make it look more real. I am almost certain that it doesn't matter where the signature is as once it is imported, it is now in AC in the AC folder. I say this, because it was damned near impossible to get rid of. Simply deleting the signature from the server did not get rid of it.

Bert
Once you make the signature with adobe photo shop extended, can you save it and use it in other programs? say pdf xchange?

Gerado, Here are the instructions via two emails from an expert named, Scott. Just say you found him on allexperts.com and were given his email by someone who he helped tremendously. The info will be in the pdf I am uploading for you. I will send the password to you via your PM. http://www.box.net/shared/static/0sszcixtdm.pdf

I have the signature on another drive on my server, not the AC drive, you think that is the issue? That being said, it is imported and looks fine under ADMIN in my user area and not working when applying in real life?

I am unsure what to try next. Maybe right click on the picture and see what size the actual image is? You may have white space taking up room that causes the signature not to print.

The signature is on the right of the box (all of it is on the right side of the box less than half the boxes size) small and maybe that is causing it not to print?

Can you go to where the picture file is saved and right click it and go to Properties? Then see what the dimensions of the picture file are. Mine came out to around 264x32 pixels

That is too big. If using Paint you should use the Select tool and select only the area that has the signature. Now go to Edit->Copy. Select File->New and then click and hold the bottom right corner of the white area on the screen. This should allow you to resize that white area until you have a very small white area, just big enough for your signature.

Thanks Bert. Looks complicated. I will try it this weekend when the kids go off to camp and I have time to play with it.

Where you put the signature on your network means nothing. You only need access to it once. It is then kept in a file in the _Data001 folder. You can move or delete the signature once it is imported.

Thanks Bert. Looks complicated. I will try it this weekend when the kids go off to camp and I have time to play with it. Gerado, Scott, the Adobe Photoshop editor responded by email and said he would help in any way he could. He was talking in reference to me, but I can certainly set you up through his site. He's the guru, and a very nice person. As an aside, the reason Photoshop seems so unweildy is it is the one area of computer applications that Microsoft has not ventured into or copied. I mean Paint is to Photoshop what Notepad is to Word or Open Office. It's truly pathetic. It got a face lift in Win7, but it is maybe 10% better. I am embarrassed when I open the thing. In this day and age of photo and video editing, why does Microsoft leave it all to Mac and 3rd party programs like Adobe?

Jack,
What you are saying is really quite a mystery. If you have it imported, and you can see it in the box, then it should print. Dumb question. You can import it and make the file, but it won't stay if you don't Save it. When, you right click on a name in the Patient List and choose Print Notes and Consultant Letters and then click on Compose Letter without printing, can you see it in the signature box?
OK, so if I had to bet, I would say there were two possibilities, one more likely than the other. The less likely possibility is that you need to reinstall, maybe only on one computer (to see if it will work).
The second is I am guessing you have more than a few users. You, nurses, receptionists, etc. When you import it, do you have your name in the Edit User List? So when you import the signature, it is always associated with you?

And, the Data001 folder you have imported the sig into is in the AC folder on the server. I don't mean a folder with your signature that you made, but the Data001 folder. The files will end in .ac, but if you rename them to .bmp, you will see your signature. Of course, you have to name it back.
The only way the folder wouldn't be there would be if the admin section you browsed to the signature from was not on a path to the server. That would be odd, though. I still think you are importing the signature with a different user in the drop down box. So, as you say, it would look fine under ADMIN in your user area. But, after you saved and closed and went back to your user name, it wouldn't be there.
I guess you could do one of three things:
1. Go back into Admin and check your user and see if it is associated with it. 2. Go to the data folder in the AC folder and rename and files there to bitmaps files (.bmp) and see if your file is there, naming it back after. 3. For fun, log in as each user and see if any of them have the signature.

Ok Bert, here is the update, I tried to compose a letter as you stated above and it worked! But then I tried to write a script, 8x11 and did not see it in that? I definitely imported it under my user name, the sig appears only in my name under admin. However, I did have a username that I did not like and inactivated and created another user for myself, could things be getting confused with my original username?

Could be. What I would do is go to your AC folder on your server and look inside it. Depending on how many files you have in there, you can decide what to do. Any photograph or jpg, bmp etc. will have a corresponding file inside. Again, you can change the extension from .ac to .bmp or .jpg or whatever to see what is inside. If you don't have any photos yet, although I thought you said you did, then just remove the folder. It will be remade automatically. Or just delete the files inside if you aren't worried about losing any pictures.
Whatever you do, if there are files in there which may be things you need copy and paste it first. As I was messing around earlier, I just deleted it.
Then go back into your admin section and if you have another user account, I would edit it completely so it is like John Deleted and lowest privileges and such and such. Then inactivate it. Make sure when it is in the drop down box, there is NO signature there. THEN, when your name is there, import a signature. Save it. You should be all set.
I just thought of another issue you may be having. This would be very unlikely, but with SQL controlling the databases, you could technically have permissions which are not fully set up. This could affect things, but I am doubtful.

Bert,
Paint is a microsoft program.
I recreated my signature in Paint and it seems to be working now.
It worked for a little time before and then stopped.

I take it you are talking about the same user each time. Also, look in the _Data001 folder in your main Amazing Charts folder and make sure the signature is there.
The file there will be make no sense and end in .ac If you change the extension to .jpg, you will be able to see the signature. If it is in the folder, it should be showing up if you are using the same user.
