I just wanted to bring this to everyones attention. I just got off the phone with tech support. I guess I never have looked at signed off items that I print and send to other docs etc. But I just did. I went to print a mammogram to send to the surgeon. In AC my comments & signature are there, however when you print those comments nor your sign off actually print. This is the way AC is designed. To me this is a big issue. I actually commented I am not sure what my attorney would think of this if I needed to go to court I would have no way of proving I signed this off. I was told "oh in that case we could go into your system and print it if we needed to". I guess for now my fax folder will be printed and all notes hand written and then scanned.

I despise attorneys. Most are without a soul, and those who sue doctors without scruple are the spawn of evil.

I've been sued twice, my score 1:1. The 1st meritless. The 2nd perhaps had merit. A lady on who was documented non-compliant in coumadin monitoring (for years) slipped and fell on ice, bumped her head and came to the office. She and her husband REFUSED my advice to go to the E.D. and sued me when she got a subdural hematoma. Had I been using A.C. I might have used my template for "Refusing Advice." They won a settlement because I didn't document well enough that I told them to go to the E.D. WTF happened to common sense?

You are correct in your premise that some souless attorney somewhere would have a problem with the import items lack of printed signature. However it is not a practical concern. You could easily explain that this is simply the way the system works. You could also have your attorney obtain statements from AC staff to support this or they could go into the database and retrieve the date and time that a particular document was imported if truly necessary.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Nor would I waste time hand-writing then scanning your images.

You were sued because they lied and claimed you didn't tell them to go to the ER after they refused to go? #$$%^@

Not surprising that healthcare has become so expensive. I believe that litigation is the source of our problems.

So....imported items!

That sounds like a VERY easy (programming)fix. A single flag in the code changed from "on" to "off" on startup and you'd have your closed-by-default.

edit: oops, sorry, that was for the other "imported item" thread.

Well, I was on with support yesterday because the comments I write on the imported documents ( labs, reports, whatever) were not showing up when you then pull the document from imported items. ( Am using 4.0.72) They said that this would be reported as a bug....so this is a heads-up for other users. I cannot think of any easy work-around off the top of my head except that if I write a comment and the use the "signoff and send" rather than the simple "signoff" the comment will show up on the header above the document when you pull it from the imported items.

I guess I figure if I don't get sued, my liability insurance was a big waste of money. smile

Bert,
You should get sued so you can feel that your insurance dollars were well spent. the only little caveat is they increase your rates (Maine Mutual will only increase if you lose the suit). Mine went up 15% after we settled, which equates to about $1,000. Not bad, eh?

I was wrong yesterday, the comment does not get attatched to the imported item no matter which way it is signed off. I am interested in: not getting sued, not settling a suit and reduced malpractice premiums. To the end I want a medical record that supports me . While I am complaining, the date that the item was signed off is not noted and there is no equivalent of my initials on the document either. At my office I am the only one who can sign off, so by deduction I must have seen it. But, an outsider reviewing the record would not be able to tell that.

Deborah, see this thread then upgrade to 4.0.73 if you need this fixed by Monday. There was a warning about this in the lower left of AC for a week and a half or so also.

Thank you Benjamin, I had followed that thread and thought the 4.0.72 was the update after that bug fix. I would certainly hope that when I was talking to Joe on AC support two days ago that he would have been able to tell me that upgrade to 4.0.73 was the fix. I guess I will be back in touch with support about this. At least I am not imagining things or causing the problem by doing something incorrectly.

Bummer, I upgraded a clinic before they started just to avoid that. I'll test it later this weekend. I _really_ don't want it to be the case though.

Welcome Deborah smile
