I had a problem with the database tuner when I upgraded to V4.0.73 from the previous 4.0 version. I thought I'd share how I figured it out here.

Our IT guys put an "Amazing Charts Install" folder on our server. I downloaded the amazingchartsinstaller4.exe and overwrote the existing file with the same name.

Oh, I backed everything up 3 times to 3 different places first. Forgot to mention that.

I got the 1306 error when I ran the program, even after going around and turning off every computer in the office. So I restarted the server and everthing went perfectly.

Next I got the message to run the database tuner. After some trial and error (and fear) I figured out that this was not the optimize database program that you run from the window with the little man in it. So I looked more carefully and found "Database Tuner" right where the pop up said it would be. It didn't work. (I ran it several times and got a bunch of non-working Amazing Charts shortcuts on the desktop).

Finally I got the bright idea to see if there was a new "Database Tuner" program to download. There is.

I saved it to the Installer folder on our server and ran it from there (I was afraid to delete the old tuner and replace it). Everything worked beautifully after that. I only had to run the tuner on the server.

Now everything's updated and nary a backup was needed.

Installed 4.073 over 4.072 today. Did have to run the database tuner, as expected.

I would suggest that AC name the installation programs with the version number appended, Such as "amazing charts installer 4.073" instead of "amazing charts installer 4"

I got confused and downloaded the new 4.073 version but must have apparently ran on old 4.072 version on my hard drive as they had the same name.

Download to a shared folder took about 30 minutes, then it was another 30 minutes running in circles to all seven computers and installing.

I agree with KenP.

Naming the installer and tuner with the correct version would make it easier to find.

I keep getting a timeout error when running the tuner. I have my folder in "D:\...\Amazing Charts" and the tuner .exe in "D:\...\Amazing Charts".

I shouldn't have any trouble, any ideas?

I found that if you run utilities before running the Database Tuner you will not get a timed out message. Try the optimize button.

Great! I was just going to give up on updating until version 5. It's nice to see you all on here.

I had the same problem as BenjaminSerrato while upgrading from AC 4.0.58 to AC 4.0.73. Running utilities before the tuner did solve the problem.
This was VERY USFUL information. It saved me lot of hassle.

Thanks.

I wish I had read this before I updated earlier today...
My only 2 cents is to make sure you download the database tuner to the folder where the working databases are on your server. For most people this would be where they installed the program (c: program files/amazingcharts). However, if you installed your databases to a different drive or partition, like I did, then you must download the database tuner to that location.

Good luck
