For the communities'information:

I have had daily cardiac stress testing performed by AC. eek

Nightly at 10pm, all my work performed that day disappears from the in-mailbox. Naturally I panicked, cry restarted the server, reinstalled Amazingcharts, searched for the elusive database that selectively disappeared, reinstalled data from tape drive, cursed the Pope, and went through six of seven stages of loss (denial, anger, mad negotiation, just short of acceptance)...

The next morning the data reappears as if nothing had gone on the night before. blush

I swear, I am not taking Ambein, or smoking organic material, or dropping acid. It happens each night. confused Then I had decided to change the clock on the server two hours (or set it back two hours). The data appeared miraculously. I began to suspect Jon had installed something into my AC program to force me to spend more time with my children and family after 10pm.

I contacted Pope Jon and he told me that this indeed is a bug and he will have a correction soon. In the meantime, I have been setting the clock on the computer back or forward several hours as a workaround. (I hope it doesn't cause the whole network to crash).

I thought I should let others know this if they are experiencing the same frustration. No,... you do not need to check yourself into an inpatient psychiatric unit!!! crazy

This is a known bug, and is currently fixed in the source code and will be fixed in the next beta. This drove me ABSOLUTELY NUTS.

The reason this got broken is that reminders that you want to pop up in your "in box" in the future are stored as e-mails, dated the date you want them to pop up. Sounds like a good idea so far, right?

Well, there is ALSO a problem with e-mails being delayed by the original reminder code, where if someone who has a clock set later than yours will have their e-mails delayed by the difference between the two clocks. The way they fixed THAT problem was to have a two hour window forward so that things show up immediately even if the clock is fast by up to two hours.

Unfortunately, they forgot to add code to handle the last two hours of the day, when two hours in the future is really 22 hours earlier on the clock - so all mail with that date disappears!

While the easy answer is don't chart between 10 and 12 PM (hehehe.. yeah, I know..) manually setting the clock on back two hours under Windows is a work-around.

Regards,

V.

V.

Thanks for the detailed info.
Can Jon could correct the problem (say with a patch?).

I don't like the idea of changing the hours of the server around. Seems like there could be some problems with other programs and affects the integrity of the data. Can I just change the hours on the local computer?)

I'm surprised no one else posted this issue previously. I guess most people don't chart afterhours. I feel much better now that it's out of the closet.

Ya know, I did notice this. Last week I sent myself an immediate reminder just to remind myself to make a phonecall the next day around ten pm and it didn't show up right away. But as I was backing & packing at the end of the nite after midnight, there was my reminder. It stuck me as kind of stranger, but figured it was just a ghost in the machine.

So now my question is, if my provider had forwarded charts to herself for charting later that nite, you are saying that from 10-12 she would loose access (pun intended?) to them for this two hour window, and all other messages she may can to work on or answer? Thanks guys...

Thanks for the info.

Sitting at my AC copying my back up to another computer before I start to restore the back up to my main computer. Seemed to have lost the charts that were in my inbox. Decided to check and see if anyone else every had this problem. Now I know I am not crazy. Changing the computer clock found everything. Thanks again
