Can someone briefly summarize best practice for configuring V4 on a server? We just moved to V4 from 3.7 and now are getting
"AC is experiencing problems and must shut down" situations fairly often. Never happened w/ 3.7 and I understand is not what others are experiencing. So, must be the way our IT set it up.

Thanks,

Sky

Are your workstations independently running AC and just accessing the database on the server ? I ask because some people use thin work stations.

I would also recommend cleaning your server of old backup files if you are using AC backup and running utilities.

Make sure you are running the newest version 4.072 (if you are not you might want to wait until the end of the week which should correct a critical error in signoffs).

The server should be set up so the Amazing Charts folder is shared with full control. When you right click on the folder, and select properties it will allow you to configure the share and its securities. Click on the share tab, and then you will see the permissions to share that folder, click on that button make sure it is set for full control, then go to the security tab, and check to make sure that every name in that list is set with full control.

If you do not have a security tab you would want to go to the control panel and select folder options then click on view tab from there. Scroll to the bottom you should see a check box that says use simple file sharing, uncheck that so it gives you the option to turn on advanced security options. Once you have done that go back to the database folder, and select properties again, and check that it is set up correctly.

Also you may want to look at the security programs, and see if they could slowing the program down. Try disabling the security temporarily to determine if the speed improves, and to see if you get kicked out of the program.
