I ran a series of posts last year called "Blog of a Newbie."
For those who didn't read it, I outlined my experiences in converting from a paper chart to AC.

This brief update is to let people know that 1-1/2 years into using AC and I'm still very happy.

I moved my office location 1 year ago June 20th, in fact we were moving the weekend of the AC-Users Convention. We were electronic by that time and it made the move immensely easier to not carry over all those paper charts.

In fact I'm happier w/ the new V4 than ever before. The speed factor is utterly amazing w/ SQL v.s. MSAccess, especially w/ the Import Items folder.

I have some patients that have hundreds of .PDF images in those folders just in the last year (chronically ill pts in/out of the hospital frequently) from the fax. It was taking many seconds (20-40sec) to download those large number of images from the server to the clients. It got annoying.

Even a fast download could take 5-8seconds to open the Import Items folder.

SQL is almost instant, therefore it's instant gratification for me. I became instantly more efficient, my staff more efficient which saves me money (by allowing them to get more done within a given alottment of time).

While Jon and the AC staff frequently are the center of debate here on the UserBoard, I am very grateful to them. Without AC I would have spent money on a different charting system, probably many thousands or tens of thousands. I love AC and the ease and reliability of it.

My medical students get adept at using it within 5-10 min overview. Most are charting on it within the 1st day of their rotation.

So thanks AC and thanks to the many AC Friends I've made in the last 18 months. God bless all of you.
