For those of you who used the desktop version of UPDOX and found it a useful tool when integrated into AC3 there is a more powerful desktop utility very similar to Updox that is in beta stages.

I have explored the New UPDOX internet based system and find it essentially unusable as a method of improving efficiency and information handling when integrated with AC. Beacuse it is internet based, every time you want to move emailed/imported documents, it has to go up to the intetnet interface, then back down. When you are dealing with imported items that are somtimes large or multiple items it is just too unwieldy and slow. See next post.....

Darry Strickland, one of the original authors of UPDOX, has written a fully functional beta version of an improved more powerful desktop utility that integrates wonderfully with AC4. It allows one to directly import labs, consults, etc into patients proper folders either with comments/signed off/notes added, etc. as well as the ability to send emails to patients directly with labs or notes along with comments attached. Quite robust and powerful. I am just starting to get into this and it is truly impressive. Darryl is in the process of writing a user manual to make it easier for all of us to try. In addition he is talking with Jon about a non-beta integration w AC. When the user manual and beta program are ready for us to download and try I will let everyone know -- hopefully in the next week. Everyone's input will be important, and if truly a useful tool, we should all provide feedback to Jon to speed up the integration process. I have not been led to believe that the charges will be as onerous as the new UPDOX internet network but more similar to the old desktop version (purchase program plus link fee for AC?).

DISCLAIMER: I am not related, have no financial, emotional, or other interests in UPDOX, UPDOX network, MIaDOC, or AC and am posting in the capacity of an FP using AC4 and beta testing MIaDOC (the 'new' desktop utility referred to above).

I will update progress with link to downloads hofefully by next week.

Best,
