Where are they?
I really need to fire my billing company, but I don't want to start with a band aid for a few months and then have to change again.

Guys the ac system as is with office alli seems to be working smoothly for me and I may not even need the pmr. I think it is worth a look if you need something now. You very well will need a clearinghouse and officealli is a free clearinghouse.

George,
I spoke with Jose at Alli today and it sounded good, but (there always is a but), how do you deal with documenting payment from primary and sending off to the secondary and sending to the pt for deductible, co-pay (yes it should be collected at the front desk) or pt resopnisbility?

Please be mindful I am new and feeling my way through this but there is an area in the ac under the patients billing where we put the copay in upfront upon arrival. The same section in the chart also lets me put in any payments when we get the eob or the check. Finally for secondary it is placed on the cms 1500 in the other insurance area the cross claim should be sent by officeally. I think you can actually check a box atop the cms 1500 that says something like "secondary claim" to denote to the insurance carrier that there is another payer.

George,
Thank for the information. I can use that to make it work.
Now, how will you run an AR report and send bills out. We came up with generating the invoie for the pt as we post and then use a window envelope and send the bill out every thirty days or right then.

We are simply using the invoice that is a part of the acounting section that will show the patient all that was paid and what is owed. My wife is simply keeping track of who owes and who doesn't and tracking it in AC. From her list of who owes the montly bill can be sent out directly out of AC after we post any monthly payments in AC.

Hello all... As usual it has been a few months since I stopped by here and thought I would give a short update from the blog on a couple things that might be of interest. Office Ally has added a PHR to their system that connects MDs with an EHR lite, which basically is a way to share the PHR records and communicate via SSL. http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/11/office-ally-adds-more-connectivity-for.htmlAlso, I have been posting a lot about medical devices that report data as they are entering the EHR/EMR picture rapidly. Here's one not for the weak at heart, a blue tooth inhaler that created a data trail, and I believe some drugs are changing their delivery system as they can to use devices that report compliance, almost a bit big brother stuff if you will. http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/10/venahub-medical-device-hub-wirelessly.htmlAlso, EZClaim has introduced a real basic simple 1500 forms printer/filler for small medical billing purposes. http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/10/ezclaim-announces-new-simple-cms-1500.htmlAs usual I need to get by here more often too. If anyone is on Twitter you can follow me at "MedicalQuack". Again hope it was ok to drop in a few items that could be of interest here. Barbara Duck
