Who's using what for their server systems? I just figured out that TrendMicro isn't going to work for my system - down for half the day! So what other solutions are people using for a server system? P2P folks can just use the free things that are out there but the client-server systems need a purchased solution. Is anyone using a combination of free and purchased?

I am using AVG network edition, at the suggestion of Bert. Fairly easy to manage. A little tricky to set up but, even with my very, very limited networking experience, I was able to "push" the program out to the clients from the server. I tried Norton's first and hated it. It really slowed my network ( which runs SB 2003)down and was hard as heck to remove. This is where my IT guy and I parted ways. When I told him I wanted to go with AVG he tried downloading it to the server but could not so he gave up. After a little investigating I figured out my server had not been doing regular updates...was still using Service Pack 1!!! So, I found help online, downloaded the missing file which then allowed the normal updates to occur, updated the Service Packs and AVG went on without another hitch. I recommend it. Thanks, Bert.

No problem. I always recommend AVG and Trend Micro depending on one's taste.
Not sure what you mean about Trend Micro's not working. I am really starting to favor AVG over everything else.
At the very least you could download and install the free version of AVG to all your PCs.

I have a trend micro running on my server, but have used AVG for years on all my other computers. The problem with all paid ones is how many you have and then how quickly it costs more and more to update, renew, etc.

Anyone try out the Microsoft product - Live OneCare? Reviews weren't great but I think it would be slightly less likely to crash my network.
I'm not sure what happened with Trend Micro but it really screwed up the network to the point we were back to paper for a half day. It might have something to do with simple file sharing which is currently on all the computers.

Don't knnow what happened with TM for you. I love TM. AVG is awesome too.
Haven't tried Live OneCare. I will never understand Microsoft. If they ever bought a Starbucks, they would be selling hot dogs in a week.

I used Live One Care for a year on one laptop in the office and on my home machines (it was a 3 user subscription and I brought the laptop in from home for office use). It seemed ok. I'm not sure I ever trusted it completely. I would not trust it for a server. It did not slow things down that much however.
At the same time I used Live One Care I had Norton Antivirus in the office (the Server/multiuser edition). After some issues and lost data with AC, I switched to AVG network edition last year and have been very happy. My IT person is a reseller so I just had him come in and load it on the server and the other machines in the office, so I don't know how hard it might be to load on a server (they had to use a special program to get rid of all the tentacles of the Norton program). I did need to buy a retail version to get a few extra licenses and it loaded on the client machines without a hitch (just disable the firewall option on the client machines if you have the server version, since it gives no extra protection and will just slow things down). Good luck.
