I have a "main computer" and two (2) wireless laptops. My office flow goes like this. Receptionist enters the New Patient Demographics....Nurse enters CC.......Doctor enters the rest....

I have only found two (2) ways to "refresh" my laptop with my staff's info. The first way is to log out and log back in. The second way is to enter a new patient from my laptop and then it "refreshs" the other patients that were entered in by my staff.

Any other suggestions????

quickbookuser,

I don't think this has anything to do with wireless vs wired. Your method, while it may work for you (and I don't see how it works at all), should not be necessary.

First, when your receptionist enters a new patient and the demographics and SAVES it, that patient is now in the database on your server or main computer. PERIOD. Anyway connected to that main computer should be able to "see" that patient and his or her demographics instantly. There should be no need to refresh or restart AC or the computer or any other step. This is why your nurse should be able to pull up the data.

Second, when your nurse enters the CC or enter data for that matter (I would hope she or he would enter vital signs) it will only stay in the chart if it is saved or forwarded. A nurse or any other user unless having doctor privileges, cannot save a chart period. Therefore, he or she must forward it. Given you are the one needing the chart, they would forward it to you. It should now be in your Inbox. You do not need to refresh or restart AC. If you pull the chart from your Inbox, it will have all of the info that your nurse and receptionist put in it.

You would then chart and save it (you can also forward it back to yourself either with the forward window or with CTRL - S. This would save all data including what you wrote for later editing. Whether or not you should forward it back for further editing rather than save it at that point is a topic of discussion that is in many threads on the boards.

If, after your nurse forwarded the chart to you, you lost your connection, you would not be able to open AC as it would be looking for the central database.

Having to enter a patient from your laptop in order to be able to obtain the chart your nurse charted on seems completely counter intuitive to the entire process not to mention entering 20 to 30 new patients a day that would not be used.

I hope this is a good jumping off point. I think you may need to reply with more information.
