I apologize if this was already discussed. I use Athena health as my practice management/billing software. The interface charge is $500 for AC. I contacted Athena via my manager, who told me that Athena would charge me an additional $4500-5000 to set it up. Is this true? Is there a good practice management software that is not as expensive with an AC interface?

We use athenahealth also. My office manager is checking into this now but we haven't gotten a price yet. When we interfaced with Labcorp, they picked up the fee. I will let you know what I hear from Athena. Dave

We are also a user of AC and athena. They told me the same thing. Over $4000 for development and a monthly fee thereafter. It is crazy. Did any body find a way to do this? We really want to be able to transfer patient name and DOB to AC and the codes from AC to athena, rather than manually retying them in the other software.

Athena is not interested in having only a portion of your data; they want the demos, insurance information, AND the notes. Hence, they are not motivated to facilitate connection between your PM and AC. So they charge a fortune to make it happen.
For example, "Bush [Athena's CEO] says that Athena might be able to halve the amount that physicians pay to use its EHR if they participate in what is now a nascent effort at the company called ?AthenaCommunity.? Athena?s EHR customers who opt to share their patients? data with other providers would pay a discounted rate to use Athena?s health record software. Athena would be able to make money with the patient data by charging, say, a hospital a small fee to access a patient?s insurance and medical information from Athena?s network"
