IS there anyone using a pda to expedite charge recovery while doing hospital or snf rounds? If so, which are you using?
I am interested in updating from my paper/card oops don't lose them method to something a bit easier.

It would be great if at sometime a partnership with a handheld billing/coding software could interface with AC, for those of us doing rounds....

Thanks

I have a feeling that the smart phones are just too small to be really usable. If I was going to have something like this built I would (ideally) want to base it on a Net Tablet. Those Netbooks have larger screens. Also, someone could get Android on one and write for both android based smart phones and the tablets.

Gama,

Billing is coming. I use an outsource company.... Medical Billing Professionals. I do not have a defacto biller, but I have a person in my office that inputs the data... (almost the same thing, I know) Billing and payments are very speedy with this company.

I currently have a palm treo smart phone, and also another palm that holds that holds the epocrates software I use on rounds. I agree, that the smart phone itself is not "big" enough memory wise to handle the program. Thus, the two pda. The smartphone functions as my pager.

I'd be interested in learning how you handle the hospital rounds charges...

We have an Internal Medicine Practice and we outsource our billing. Recently we changed billing companies.
With the old billing co, we used to handwrite or "print" in the face sheet our charges and sent them to the billing company (mail or fax) once the patient was discharge.
When I say print, I mean from the PDA. Using Handbase Pro, my partner and I created a very simple set of databases to do the hospital charges and via infrared printing or printing directly from the desktop version of Handbase we used to print the info.
If you like to check out handbase, go to http://www.ddhsoftware.com/
I think the applic is about $ 40 dollars. If you want i could even sent you the databases we did with the forms, it may work you.
For printing, you can print from the desktop. If you want to print directly from the palm you will need 2 thing:
1) a printing software like pamlprint.com and
2 an infrared printer (which are not very common)most likely you will need to get a parallel infrared adapter (you could get info about this in the palmprint website.
Our new billing company have a palm software which syncronizes with the PC, I really like it. The company is mdeverywhere.
I hope this helps
