So, if the Scansnap s510 is not twain compliant, how are folks using it with AC?
Thanks,
Tim

My wife scans using scansnap software - it shows up i a window - while in AC she is in pt that needs filing and hits import from file - brings up that area and imports - she knows the last one on the screen and just imports.
When I watch her do it I note how fast it is -- she has done a lot and it is really easy. If you buy a twain scanner you can control in the AC software, but some people say you can't set features like you can with the scanner's software.

I have to second Steven's comment.
You cannot directly import with the scansnap, but with the scan button on the scanner, then drag and drop, it is actually easier than if you went through the import item screen, which will then open the scanners software (if it is twain compliant) and you scan as you would have then label and go.

Steven and Wendell,
Can you explain how you "file" the documents scanned with scansnap. I just acquired my scanner and am looking at a simple process that my office staff can handle.
I am not technologically intuitive. I do get it once it is explained.... so would you be so kind as to explain the steps... and if not imported into AC how the documents end up in the correct patient chart?
Thanks in advance

Jennifer, Though I'm neither Steven nor Wendel, I'll tell you what I do:
After you install the scanner and its software, if you haven't already during installation you can right click the blue hexagon in the quicklaunch bar and set your settings in the ScanSnap Manager: detailing where the file will be saved, color detection, compression, double sided scanning, etc.
Once it is set, any time you want to get a paper file into AC: 1.Load the document into the scanner (usually can hold 50 pages or so, but you can always reload more into it when it is almost done, and it could scan hundreds of pages into one file) 2. When it is done, it should automatically ask you what you want to do with it (send to file, send to email, etc)... just send it to a folder on the computer that you've already set as default ("Scanned files" or something). 3. name the file "Tom Jones chart" or "TJ progress notes" and "TJ labs" if you've scanned the paper file into different files/categories. 4. import the file (If you have the imported items page of the AC chart open, you can simply drag and drop the file from the "scanned files" folder to the AC imported items window... or just go through the step of importing by clicking on "import new" and easily browse for the file you want to import... my staff does the latter as they find it easier to name the item, categorize, and delete the original PDF)
It takes very little time to do this, limited only by the time it takes to scan the paper... which the ScanSnap does very quickly, bt 50 double-sided pages may take a minute or two.

We catch faxes with page with paperport and scan with scansnap. We have a folder on the desktop called "to AC" We usually print the paperport documents to PDF with cutePDF which, by default, will save to "to AC" The scansnap documents often we will directly import to AC, find the patient, F9 will open import items then import file, the last file (saved by date stamp) is the one we import and it will be PDF.
