I like that I can create an order when I have a patient's message open, but I am irritated that instead of adding the order text to that message as it does when I do a refill, it creates another message that I then have to review and save. The order text should stay with the message that it is related to, not create a new one!
Thanks Greg Phillips

I think the reason it does this is so all orders will be displayed under PAST ENCOUNTERS. It creates it's own encounter entry so you can look back, unfortunately it does not keep the diagnoses on it and it does not make this separate entry if you do the orders from within a normal office note.
That being said Guardian Support told me that the orders were being revamped for the upcoming version 5 and I hope all of this is addressed(it would be great if you could actually reprint the orders and see what diagnoses were listed so that when a lab or insurance company wants to check it could be reproduced).

I agree also that this is frustrating, requiring several "saves" and doesn't include the order as a response to the message.

Version 5 is referencing the CCHIT version - making changes to make it certified. They said orders and searching was one of the requirements.

Simple work around is to right click on the patients name to write the order, that creates a message containing the order, then you can add stuff to the message, then save it.

I found that another problem is that if you write a refill or a Rx attatched to the message, then go and write an order also, then the refill text is replaced, so it seems that both processes cannot coexist peacefully in the same message. I think it should just paste it as additional text and leave the Rx text alone. Just my 2 cents.
