It's good that you give up. I am well aware of what the AC license says. Now perhaps you can dispense with the ad hominem attacks. You do what YOU feel is best for YOUR practice and I will do what is best for mine.

Wow - some thread...
I don't want to get into this in detail (yet), but the bottom line - as you note above - Amazing Charts will need to be eligible for whatever federal dollars and future EHR technical specs are required (like tying to RHIOs, vaccine registries, etc). I may not like that certification is required, as it hampers the ability for lean and mean companies like Amazing Charts to offer new and unique approaches to maximizing reimbursement and making the practice of medicine easier for us (the providers).
Our healthcare system, in a word, sucks. We have to see more and more patients just to break even, and are not compensated nearly enough considering that we are dealing with the most precious aspect of our patient's lives - namely their lives.
But I digress.. the bottom line is that to compete, we must be certified with whatever silliness they throw at us. CCHIT is the first hurdle, and we are now working diligently on getting CCHIT certified and adding the myriad of requirements needed to pass - and are working to do so in a way that doesn't ruin the simplicity and usability of Amazing Charts.
We hope to be certified by mid-2009.

Nice to see you online Jon,
That would be fast work for V5/CHCIT if you are aiming for mid 2009, but it would put one hurdle past AC.
I hope things settle down with all the installation issues, which will allow you to move forward.

George,
This is not an attack on you nor do I wish to throw fuel on the first. We have talked in PMs and even on the phone. I don't think anyone here on the boards doubts your computer skills in many areas including networking and programming, etc. And, I don't think anyone doubts your passion for trying to use your skills to further the electronic communication in healthcare.
The problem is, IMO, that maybe you go about it the wrong way. You have the ability to help many of us on here with your knowledge, but the perception is you just want to prove everyone wrong. I think if you read this board, you will find that the AC community is a very tight knit and laid back group of people who enjoy sharing their experience with AC and helping others to understand it. If you take on Leslie and Steven on a personal level, you will always lose in the end, because Leslie and Steven have been on the boards for a long time, and everyone loves them. While users being friendly with one another may not make AC the best and most used EMR in the world, it goes a long way toward making our day better.
I can get away with making some fairly critical comments on the boards, because (I think) I have earned some respect on the boards. But, believe me, I have been taken to task by more than one person on here, and I listen and take it to heart.
The Amazing Charts message board is also a "safe haven" for other doctors who are kicked out of other message boards, specifically EMRUpdate. Over there your posts would be considered docile and people probably wouldn't even be commented on. It is just a different culture.
From my perspective, I think you mean well. You do not have to take my advice, but here it is if you are interested. Share your knowledge with us. Don't assume we are all stupid because we don't pontificate everything about CCHIT and HIT, etc. Many of us concentrate on trying to change the bells and whistles and are happy to let Jon do his thing. Take what we say with a grain of salt. I don't think we all need to agree, but we just need to treat each other with respect and help each other.
As a great example, I recall the thread on iPhone and WM. I pretty much got my lunch handed to me by at least five users and in PMs. But, it was all done in such a way that I was not offended, and I learned a ton.
What do you think?

Bert, I believe Jon's response answered the original question sufficiently.

I agree. I wasn't necessarily addressing that -- just voicing some thoughts about how best we can all post on the boards so that everyone can benefit.

We can all benefit from this board if we take the opinions of others objectively as opposed to whether they are "more loved" or "less loved."
I am reminded of Orwell's Animal House when the pig says "all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others."

Never said more loved or less loved. But, I do like the pig's take on things, lol. My point was that a lot of us have been around awhile and try not to say things that could offend another. I have in the past. Hell, I think I singlehandly ran off two users. What I am trying to suggest is that comments like "It's good that you give up." "Unlike you, I am well aware.." To PKA: "This is a serious question and deserves a serious answer." Not all answers have to be serious. Your information on SQL Server and the future of applications are way over most of our heads. AS it pertains to AC and how it could be better, it would probably make more sense to talk directly to Jon. I know he is busy and doesn't always get back to you. But, helping other users with their direct problems and questions would be something I think you would be good at. OK, I am bowing out now. Just some thoughts.
