After months/years of using the AC Immunization Administration Box to record immunizations given-- the Lot Number history on the pull-down tab becomes tremendously overpopulated and needs to be erased. Is there an easy way to do this?
Thanks for your help!

I don't know how to do alter the immunizatin stuff; I agree it would be nice to get rid of old lot numbers, etc.

Since we are seeking advice, how have folks dealt with erroneous entries? I saved a note for the wrong sibling and now want to correct it. I understand that notes can't be erased. Do you all recommend just adding an addendum to correct the record?

These are always gray areas. I always tend to compare to a paper chart and think of how it would be handled in that we used paper charts for years and years. Certainly, when writing a note on the right person an error is supposed to be crossed out with ONE line, corrected and initialed. But, at the same time if you were in the room with the wrong chart or the wrong name on a progress note, you would probably rip it up once finished.

With an EMR, it gets more black and white. If one has the ability to go into the database and change a record or delete a patient, then one would have the ability to change 104 degrees to 100.4 degrees or even 98.6.

As to the immunizations, it would make sense to be able to delete old Lot#s and expiration dates or take out misspelled insurance names in demographics and maybe Jon will do that in the final version of 4.0.

At this point, I will say that V.I.P.E.R. is now out of beta and rather rock solid. With V.I.P.E.R., you wouldn't have to worry with the wrong Lot#s, etc.

Are you serious? You don't know what V.I.P.E.R. is?

VIPER is Vaccine Inventory Program and Electronic Registry. Basically it allows you to enter four vaccines in 30 seconds rather than three to four minutes without errors.

I've only heard you tell me about it for like the past 2 years or so. I'm trying to give you opportunity to teach the others here who may not know what it is. Silly Bert.

I googled both Viper and the long name and Vaccine Inventory Program and Electronic Registry and nothing came up. So I still don't know what it is.

Bill,

I don't think we have any tags or have much clout on Google yet. It's hard to compete with the Dodge Viper.

Not only that, the download site is rather shabby.

VIPER is simply a 3rd party program which interfaces with AC to allow ultra fast entry of vaccines. Basically, by clicking on the vaccine name, all pertinent information, e.g. Lot#, Exp date, etc. is entered and the site is entered by the MA. There is a simple window that is opened to enter the names of the vaccines and the Lot# and Exp dates for that particular vaccine at that particular time.

It's solid, because it is pretty much error free, and it simply places the data directly to the AC immunization area. It can also be stopped at anytime, and the data is still in AC. It is also much easier to view the data than having to go into AC and pull the summary sheet. Finally, it organizes vaccine records by name of vaccine and then date = age. So, no more having to figure out the age a child received a vaccine who was born on 9/26/07 and is now 2/1/09. The printout is better plus it prints to Word so it can be edited.

The downside at the moment is that the site is down due to Ed's loving to tinker with something which isn't broken. The other small issue is that the activation keys are hard coded with the name of my practice. This can easily be changed when Ed makes new activation keys for an individual practice. I need to get him to make generic keys. But, once the download is fixed, using my activation key is sort of like having a trial where my name will be on there until your key is sent. The only difference is you won't have to pay for your custom activation key.

I will try to get some screen shots up soon.

Sure. Getting ready to upgrade it to SQL. So far, it is still compatible only with Access. Either way, let me know. Either PM or email.
