Microsoft looks to replace PC's with Smart Phone

Microsoft has patented an interface that aims to transform your phone into a computer, and no doubt smartphones of today have progressed much in terms of hardware that they're way more powerful than your desktop PC at the turn of the last century. How does Microsoft intend to carry out their patent? They will unleash a docking cradle for the phone which in turn connects to the network, an external hard drive, a keyboard and mouse, an LCD display and virtually any other desktop-based peripheral one would expect to use with a computer. This patent application is described as “Smart interface system for mobile communication devices”. The smart interface system will also have its own processor, memory and embedded OS. No idea if Microsoft will make more money selling such an embedded OS or not, and will this be a third pillar of operating systems for Microsoft after Windows 7 and Windows Mobile?
