I know there must be a simple solution, but the answer continues to evade me.

When I see someone and enter their allergies into the allergy field (on the encounter), why is it not showing up on the prescription writer and prescriptions? I'm always being alert that this person has no allergies listed, yet it is in the chart.

Also, when writing prescriptions, sometimes it shows up in the note and sometimes not. What am I doing/not doing?

For the allergy list to show up on script the note has to be signed, then it will show up the next time you bring up the med list.

For eg: If you saw the pt today, updated the allergy list, you signed it, then if you printed the script it will show the most current allergies.

If you update the info on allergies and print the script from same screen it will print with old allergy info.

I think it need to be saved to show up on script. That is how I have understood. I think in past users had suggested to update the allergy independent of signature like the med list, but it is something we are hoping to have.

sorry to rehash an old subject, but i had a similar issue:

is there a way then to edit the allergies in the red box (ie. if it was found to be from another med, etc?)

The only way is to make a new encounter and sign it. Then the allergy section will change. You could generate an encounter and simply put "allergy update" in the CC and sign it.

I WISH WISH WISH adding allergies would be as simple as adding meds and problems through the summary sheet.

Barbara, If you double click on the medication section of the encounter, you can add meds without them showing up in the plan portion. BUT if you change them in the summary sheet or from th RX button, they will show up in the plan.

We write the scripts with the patient in the room and almost always don't sign chart before writing prescrtiptions giving us the opportunity to review chart correctness before signing.
