Is it possible to move from AC to another EMR? "That is, is the database accessible in someway so that it can be imported into another EMR system?
The reason I'm asking is that I'm a member of a large group and we plan to go to EMR in 3-5 years. I want to use something smaller in the interim. Will my records be able to be converted over when we contract with a larger company in the future?

Gregory - Indeed you can although you may not want to after learning how great AC is! The export feature allows you to transfer poatient data out of AC. You can export into excel and then redirect into the new EMR that you are using. It can be labor intensive depending on how complex your patient data is and how different the new EMR software is, but certainly much more efficient than starting over.

Greg - I just started reading these posts tonight and had the same question about AC. What a coincidence! (for others reading this, we went to medical school together) Sorry to clutter the list, but I couldn't resist. The sharing of information between users here is, well, amazing. I am concerned about the billing service though and the lack of integration with billing into the software. Part of me wonders if spending 10k+ on a different EMR/PM program would be worht it just so it is fully integrated. E-mail me when you get a chance and let me know what you're up to... wrankine@cox.net

Hey guys; Jon told me he is working on a PM Module, due in about 6 months (this was about a month ago now). I would suggest each of us who wants and needs this feature, to continue to bug him. The more he sees the need and demand, the more likely it is that he will get down to writing and developing. He is responsive in this way. I've also wispered (shouted) in his ear that he should try and make his PM as useful and flexible to small billers as possible. With the ability for one office to communicate with numerous other offices, both with and without seperating out the data for privacy purposes. Many of us small practices tend to use small outsourced billers and if designed with both ends in mind, it could solve many problems for folks like us and open up a whole new market and revenue stream for him. So as I've said before keep emailing him so he gets the message loud and clear... Paul
