I am trying track down a possible bug in AC. My canon dr-2050c and dr-2010c both can only scan to the 2 greyscale settings when controlled from AC and creating PDF's. Does anyone else have a canon that also has this problem?
I can't be certain if this is the Canon or AC, if someone else has noticed this then it may be AC.
Greyscale takes up 2-3 times more space than B&W so this is an issue. Our imported items folder is already up to 1.59 GB.

I had same problem with Fijutsu 5110C scanner. It scanned only to greyscale when used from AC. I solve this problem by switching from Twain to WIA interface. Most scanners come with both Twain and WIA interface. WIA interface is much move convenient and faster to work with. You can easily switch from Twain to WIA by selecting the default scanner in the <Scanner Controller> window. All previous versions of AC worked fine with WIA, but the latest version 3.7.14 didn't work with WIA interface. I had to reinstall version 6.0 on top of 3.7.14 in order to keep my WIA scanning going. I contacted AC support and was told, AC only supports Twain scanning driver, but not WIA. Why? I don't know. WIA works so much better than Twain. I wish the new version of AC supports WIA, so I wouldn't have to reinstall old version 6.0 on top of updated AC again and again.

Thanks for the reply apricot. I really like the TWAIN driver interface that came with our canons, it remembers the previously used settings, can scan both sides, and removes blank sheets, WIA doesn't provide as many options and defaults to paper size A4. I imagine the Fujitsu model you have is similar. I believe that AC needs to fix it's TWAIN connection since two different manufactures have trouble with it.

We use Canon DR-2580C scanners and had the same issue with greyscale as the only option thru the AC scanning interface. However, we used the CapturePerfect software that came with the scanner and set the default to be black and white thru the software. Then after we did this, when we went back and used the AC scanner interface, there still was not a "black and white" setting listed in the drop down box BUT if you hit the "default" button at the bottom of the scanner window, "black and white" would magically appear, so at least we found a work around. Not sure if the same will work for you.
