our setup is 1 computer that has the database but also is used for charting, w/ router connections to other computers. the problem is, i get the "Lost Database Connection" on the same computer where I have the database stored!
is anyone else having this problem?
it seems like this has occurred more after connecting with labs.

I have had the same problem - we should report it as a bug.

Me too. I have had AC crash several times over the last 2 weeks as I aggressively scan in old records. Wassup?

There are several ways to let the end user refresh the connection, and are occasionally necessary when working with MS Access. The thing is, once set, these links should continue to function nonstop. This issue looks to me like it is a problem with your network router, or some sort of software incompatability. Occasionally, a router becomes unstable and connections are broken. If this happens rarely, just unplug it to flush the router memory, replug then test the P2P connection directly using Windows Explorer to see if the mapped connection is working. If it happens often, just get a new router. Software incompatabilities, on the other hand, are tough to figure out. Sometimes there are hardware drivers that get in the way. You might wish to update the scanner's drivers to see if this fixes it. Otherwise, remove the scanner if you are serious abuot using AC. Alternatively, get a new computer and set the old one for scanning purposes only. Pictures: Pic 1: The toolbox form that I use at my office with my simple EMR. Pic 2: The link form that first pops up with the free MS Word EMR Project; you set the backend dynamically after each startup. In my website for discussing MS Office programming and blogging on EMR politics, I'll soon be discussing linkage to back-end tables using MS Access in chapter 10 of my book on writing an EMR with MS Access. (I'm currently finishing up on chapter 9.) BTW, AC made it to my most recent political poster, the " EMR-OPOLY": (See AC next to the jailhouse!)RR = "railroaded"

thanks for the replies.. thing is, i had the same setup before (for about a year), but don't recall getting these 'broken connection' messages before..or maybe i'm just forgetting things. back then, i wasn't importing things or using labs.

A path is a path whether it is over the network as in \\Server\Amazing Charts\ or local as in C:\Program Files\Amazing Charts.
Granted the network share has more variables, but either can be broken.
This is probably just stupid, but try mapping the local drive. Why it would work I have no idea, but may as well give it a shot.

While this is almost never it, please be sure to go to:
Right click on My Computer, choose Properties, select Hardware, click on Device Manager, right click on your NIC, choose Properties, select the Power Mangement tab and make sure the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
That should NEVER be checked.
I have no idea what Windows was thinking. Having that feature on, must save about one-cent per year.

Actually, that makes a lot of sense- I find that on some computers occasionally one has to go to Windows Explorer and manually either just click on the mapped drive to see the root drive of the network back-end or actually remap the link (the latter is much rarer).

i think this is happening whenever another computer is trying to access the datatbase at the same time (esp if it's needing to constantly access it-ie. importing labs, etc). i see it most frequently if i'm importing labs from a diff computer, and using this comp (the one w/ the db on it) to write up notes.
