Good morning.

I am new to AC. In fact, I installed it 2 days ago, and put in a few notes today.

I had no trouble installing to the three Dell Optiplex 330s. However, when I tried to install to the new HP Touchsmart 504 with 64 bit Vista, Windows Installer said "Error opening Installation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable." I assume this has to do with the installation script? I have admin privileges tot he machine, and have installed Avast, Firefox, etc with no problems.

Is it Vista? Is there a setting I can tweak?

Thanks.

Have you tried the .msi installer? I'm not sure how it's different, but perhaps that would work.

Jack,

Have you emailed or called support to see if AC is compatible with a 64 bit OS? My guess is it is not.

Hurray! It worked! Actually, at the suggestion of BenjaminSerrato, I downloaded the msi version, and the error and suggestion to download the msi was on the download page. I did already disable the user account control - it's so annoying. I suppose if one did not have all kinds of antivirus etc then some Trojan could be trying to run, but with it on I have to confirm every time I run anything.

Thanks all.

Nice work Steven. Glad it worked out for you Jack.

I think the intention of UAC was to enable the administrator to click through it while not allowing users to go to places they shouldn't. I don't they they educated their customers well, and I agree it is annoying.
