I think the problem with ADHD medications for those who don't prescribe them is it is difficult to convey how difficult they are to do. Unlike an opiate where you do one prescription or a benzodiazepine where you can write for 2 to 5 refills, Ritalin and Concerta, etc. can be filled for three months but they have to be on separate prescriptions. This always makes it difficult because you either have to write: Do not fill before July 29 on the second script and "Do not fill before August 30" on the third script. Or some pharmacies let you write 1 of 3, 2 of 3 and 3 of 3 (much easier). It's stupid that you can't write for refills but you simply can't. Some patients are on three different ADHD meds so you have to write nine scripts each time with everything correct. It used to be you could load three scripts at one time which made the entire process easier but NewCrop stopped allowing that five years ago. NewCrop will recognize that you are trying to send more than one script that is the same. Who the f.... cares? Well New Crop does.
There are some things that will show up in the notes to pharmacist like the diagnosis but the other like 1 of 3, 2 of 3, etc. will send but it won't show up in the last screen which would be very helpful. There are ways that the EPCS script writer could be done better and ways that NewCrop could make it easier.
My suggestion would be to have Chris and me and possibly one other talk directly to the EPCS developers -- here I am speaking for Chris -- because the whole thing is so complicated. Even the verification screen could be better with less clicks.
