End of life on windows 7 is January 2020. After that those machines are not considered HIPPA compliant due to no more security updates.
Windows 10 is the last version of windows micro$oft will release. From now on, windows will be considered "windows as a service" and will get annual updates/upgrades and "fixes" infinitely. Anyone that upgraded to Win 10 from win 7 or 8 or 8.1 received a digital entitlement for windows 10 and that machine windows 10 was installed on will get all updates for windows for "the useful life" of the hardware. Therefore, at some point your machine's hardware will be obsolete, not get updates, and be HIPPA not complaint and force you to buy a new computer. At that time, Windows (latest build version) will be the only option....
So, just update to Windows 10, turn off all the telemetry/tracking/spying (do an internet search for how) and be happy you got a free upgrade. Just my $.02
