I learned today from product support that in order to view photos taken during an exam (and uploaded to Most Recent Encounter), I have to use the drop-down menu under the date on the Most Recent Encounter [that's in the upper left of the chart page], and choose the date that the pictures were taken. This is the same method, they explained, that would be needed to read notes in the 'confidential' section.
Tip: after learning this, I now put a code letter in the Chief Complaint section when there is an entry to the confidential section or a photo. For example, I write in Chief Complaint: "skin infection p" or "assaulted c," indicating that this is a date on which I had entered information or a note in the Confidential section. The drop-down menu would say: '10/17/06 assaulted c.'
When I look up Past Encounters, I might see several visits for the skin infection but have never known which one had the pictures. Now, I can easily spot the visits which had the photos, or which had the confidential information I needed to review.
I had been redundantly saving photos to Imported Items so I could get to them from any Most Recent Encounter.
By the way, I think this is yet another good example of why being able to open more than 1 chart at a time is essential.
