We use the schedule to track the pts, no need for IM. Reception types in "kept" in parenthesis beside patients name on schedule to alert the nurse that patient has arrived. That way I know the patient is there as well. After nurse rooms the patient she changes the "kept" to "ready 1" or "ready 2" and so forth indicating the patient is ready for me and which room. Has worked very well for my solo practice. I would prefer color coding on the schedule but that's not an option.
