To me, at $250/year, AC remote backup seems expensive. I would like to try backing up in a Dropbox folder or JungleDisk or even iBackup folder so that I have an offsite backup.
1. What do the people on this forum think about the security of such an approach.
2. Is't the AC database backup password protected? Can anyone restore database without password?
3. Does setting up these services like Dropbox create a hole for the hackers?
4. Is any of these services more secure than the others? Or preferable in other ways? JungleDisk is the least expensive of the three.
5. And will such a backup be HIPPA compliant?
As I understand all of the above mentioned services use Amazon S3 storage and most of those servers are in US.
At present my first AC backup goes on the AC program folder, the second on a USB iOSafe - fireproof and waterproof - hard drive and I would like to set up the third backup in a clod folder on Dropbox or Jungle Disk or iBackup.
