Just off the top of my head - try lowering your screen resolution and see if that helps.
Or maybe you'd be better off using the plus key to increase the text size rather than maximizing. The scroll bars are a pain, but not nearly as much as having to restart AC.
Does it happen if you maximize AC first, and then open imported items?
