Hi everyone. I am a family physician about to launch a solo practice. I have a lot of experience with one of the larger EMR systems, that I was using in my prior job (employed physician in a large group), but I am leaning toward AC for my new, small practice. What I've seen so far is very good. I have one big question, though... There are many situations when I would rather have a flow-sheet type of documentation instead of a separate soap note that is encounter specific. OB is the best example (thus the title of the topic)--normally the entire pregnancy is viewed as an event, rather than the individual prenatal visits. In the paper world, it was the ACOG forms. The EMR I used previously had an OB module, which kept all of the information from the pregnancy in one "place" and allowed a complete prenatal record of the documentation from the entire pregnancy to be easily printed. There are many other applications for this type of "flow-sheet" that is not encounter-specific: health-maintenance, developmental documentation for kids, chronic disease (e.g. diabetes) management. If there is a way to do this type of documentation in AC, I will probably be sold. I think that OB is best example--if there is something people are using for that, I can probably adapt it to my other needs. Thanks, and I'm looking forward to the wisdom of the group!
