You cannot just sync. I had 2 databases and have tried. It will not work. Of course I did this on copies on backup machines. Now they are separate licenses and it would be even more difficult.
I agree that you probably need to go through SQL. That should require a discussion with AC since they have the passwords for the database.
I never discussed with AC what that would entail to merge the databases.
