We are very happy with UpDox. Documents are imported into AC easily and quickly. We started with Paperport and to me it has a lot of annoying features; we still have Brother MFC's but we have gotten rid of PP altogether.
We purchased Fax Talk (an inexpensive program which does overlap in its functionality with UpDox somewhat). We have set Fax Talk to take all of our incoming faxes and convert them to pdf's, which are picked up by UpDox. (This all takes place in the background with absolutely no effort, once it is set up). The advantage...our cost for UpDox is fixed at $30 a month, regardless of how many faxes we receive. We do still maintain a fax line (if you could otherwise get rid of a phone line, the cost differential changes).
Getting additional faxes is now essentially free, and the documents are easy to import so we keep pushing the hospital lab and radiology (anything that does not have an interface) to send us faxes. The result is much less paper and scanning.
