I know this is probably tantamount to heresy but I think it's important to talk about other EMR's so that AC can get better. With that idea in mind, I have just come upon a neat EMR similar to AC but, I think, much easier to use called UniCharts. I would love to see AC implement some of the better things that this EMR has. First off, you can type freely, use templates AND, most importantly, POINT AND CLICK templates/words! That's what I really like about it since I am a very slow typist. I also really like the remote control of this EMR. All you do is set up a static local IP address on your LAN and when you are offsite, just type that IP address into IE's browser and voila! You are at the login screen! It is so much faster to log in and out! And even though this program is pretty cool and as inexpensive as AC (actually a little less expensive), it has NO interfaces. It doesn't even interface with LabCorp or any E-prescription service! However, they supposedly will have all of these interfaces by the end of June 2011. I doubt it. But then again, I think this EMR is only a year or so old. Anyway, maybe AC can eventually have these couple of great ideas. Then it will have everything!
