I understand what you are saying. I like to multitask as well. But, I am not sure why you can't multitask on the same computer you are chatting on.
How often are you talking with support? If it were everyday, this may be an issue. Otherwise, I would have to agree with you that it is a minor issue and likely on their side and not due to your browser settings.
