It looks like Paperport 12.1 is a disaster with Windows 7. It keeps freezing the network and is virtually unusable. Paperport support tells me it is not meant to be networked and they were entirely unhelpful after an hour on a non-toll free number.

I would like to find a replacement that will allow me to convert Tif files to PDFs and then mark them up in preparation for importing into AC. I already spent $100 on Paperport 12 and would rather not incur another costly mistake. I found a little utility to convert the PDFs for free (can't remember the name right now) so I think I can make that work for the conversion. I looked at XnView and it looks like a good organizer but I couldn't see how to mark up the PDFs. Cute PDF also doesn't seem to have any marking tools. I really don't want to spend the money on a full version of an Adobe product.

I personally feel that this should be a part of AC since it is a vital part of a paperless office.

Anyone have any other ideas?
