I use a fujitsu - do not use TWAIN interface and using scansnap it works great for importing. Have imported 1500-2000 old charts and thousands of other records.
Networking issue - why would you network scanner ? Since the scanner is only in one spot the person has to go to scanner so I don't see how workflow would let you use network functions. Import/scan with one scanner/one computer.
