If one has Windows XP, I still don't know why they aren't just using the free Remote Desktop, which is free, fast and secure.
For me, part of the reason is that these other options are quick, user friendly, and out in the open. I can download logmein or teamviewer and be up and going in five minutes. I have yet to find out anything about remote desktop, even though presumably it's sitting right in front of me. Also, something about it being part of my OS, from Microsoft, makes me nervous.
I realize all of my above points are debatable. And once familiar with that option, as you are, maybe it IS better. Other folks must have similar reasons because, as you say, no one is talking about RDT much.
